Starting October 3, 2026, the Photography Museum of Antananarivo will inaugurate the major exhibition "ORIGINS. The Beginnings of Photography in Madagascar." This event will bring together the general public and history enthusiasts around the first visual archives of the Great Island, to examine the political, diplomatic, and cultural impact of the arrival of photography on the territory from 1853 onwards. "Origins" invites visitors on an introspective immersion into the heart of the creative process, questioning the cultural, biological, and spiritual roots that shape our identity. Through a captivating selection of pictorial works, sculptural installations, and multimedia devices, this presentation explores the genesis of matter and individual or collective memory. By weaving subtle connections between ancestral traditions and contemporary artistic languages, the exhibition takes a poetic look at what binds us to our land and our history.
