The entire courtyard of Rova de Manjakamiadana is now illuminated. A solar lighting project covering the full courtyard of Rova de Manjakamiadana has been implemented through a partnership between the Ministry of Communication and Culture, the Office of Rova of Madagasikara (ORMADA), and the Filatex group. This project aims to ensure permanent illumination of the palace esplanade's 8,000 m² using clean energy, combining heritage preservation with modern site development. Installation work on 60 weatherproof aluminum cast solar fixtures took two months. ORMADA oversaw project management while Filatex group handled design. Earthwork and masonry were entrusted to SITMA company. Meticulous research for materials ensuring maximum visual discretion was undertaken with architect Fara H. Rahoeliarivahy, DPLG and president of the Order of Architects of Madagascar. The entire initiative was funded by the Yavarhoussen Fund. Communication and Culture Minister Gascar Fenosoa inaugurated the esplanade lighting last week, including gardens surrounding the Queen's Palace. Multiple Objectives The main objective of lighting these exterior spaces of this heritage site is strengthening nighttime surveillance and site security to prevent intrusions. Stakeholders also ensured preservation of landscape authenticity and harmony. Promoters chose small, discreet low-level lighting fixtures to illuminate the royal courtyard. The solar solution addresses multiple concerns, including equipment energy autonomy, avoiding grid dependence and costly connection work. This ecological commitment underscores partners' shared desire to combine modernity with environmental respect, as emphasized during inauguration. Finally, this illumination enhances site beautification and boosts tourist appeal for national and international visitors.
