The HVM party held a provincial congress in Antananarivo over the weekend. Among the resolutions adopted was the elimination of independent candidacies in elections. It is with this objective that the provincial congress of the party "Hery vaovao ho an'i Madagasikara" (HVM), organized in Antananarivo, put forward one of its resolutions: "the elimination of independent candidacies". For the Blues, candidates for elective office should be presented exclusively by a properly established political party. They justify this position by the desire to "clean up the political arena, end political transhumance and variable geometry within Parliament, which disrupt institutional stability". In parallel, the provincial congress resolutions also recommend a reform of the law on political parties. The versatility of political actors, particularly elected officials, is precisely at the heart of recent debates. The cause: the territorial network currently being set up by the political platform Vovonan'ny Fihavaozan'i Madagasikara (VFM). This entity, composed of deputies and mayors who have pledged allegiance to the Refoundation regime, is the subject of fierce criticism, including from those who support the current regime. The reason lies notably in the fact that the VFM brings together dissident deputies from the "Isika rehetra miaraka amin'i Andry Rajoelina" (Irmar) platform, as well as elected officials from its former ally, the Union of Supporters of Andry Rajoelina (Upar). Shock Absorber. The same observation applies to mayors. A large portion of those who are now joining the VFM and wearing the green badge had been elected under the Orange banner. During speeches at the closing ceremony of the HVM provincial congress for the Antananarivo province on Saturday in Itaosy, party discipline and loyalty to its orientations were heavily emphasized. For several weeks now, the Blues have been calling for the elimination of independent candidacies in elections. They have now formalized this position in their congress resolutions. After a series of regional congresses, the provincial congress held in Antananarivo, and especially its closing ceremony on Saturday, constitutes the first major political meeting organized by the HVM in the capital in several years. The Blues are thus coming out of their reserve and affirming their willingness to "take part in all upcoming elections". On electoral governance, the provincial congress resolutions also call for a reform of the legal framework for elections. The HVM considers this undertaking as "the basis of a credible, inclusive election accepted by all". Saturday's event was also an opportunity for Hery Rajaonarimampianina, former president of the Republic and founder of the HVM, to remind the audience of his political program, "Fisandratana 2030". Taking to his advantage the nickname of "spring" that his detractors had given him, he also presented himself as "a shock absorber" when political upheavals endanger national stability. Pending the next electoral deadlines and knowing the candidates the party will present, the Blues reaffirm their support for the Refoundation regime. The HVM currently has in its ranks Alain Rasambany, its secretary general, minister of Youth and Sports, while its national president, Rivo Rakotovao, has just been appointed ambassador.
