Following recent operations, law enforcement officers have once again clashed with smugglers involved in trafficking contraband goods, particularly dried fish. In the Ambanja district, dried fish weighing approximately 500 kilograms was seized in the Anaborano Salama commune. One of the 17 individuals transporting the fish was arrested, and authorities are investigating his associates and the cargo owners. According to reports, the operation was initiated following a tip from a concerned citizen. Authorities had been informed of a group transporting fish-laden bags through the town. Checkpoints were set up and road controls were intensified. That night, the group passed through the southern route. However, officers noticed they were being followed and set up an ambush to allow the cargo to pass. A confrontation ensued, resulting in the arrest of one suspect and the seizure of the remaining goods. A total of 34 bags of dried fish, weighing approximately 580 kilograms, were confiscated during the operation. The arrested individual is undergoing questioning, with investigations continuing on site.
