Starting this weekend, surprise inspection operations targeting buses will be deployed in Antananarivo and on national highways. This initiative follows the creation of a "National Task Force," established after a series of recent fatal and injury accidents. "The operation will be conducted in Antananarivo and on national roads, daily. We will check vehicle maintenance conditions, lighting, and compliance with regulations. Vehicles in violation will be directly impounded," warned a source close to the matter yesterday. This entity was created in accordance with directives from the President of the Refoundation of the Republic of Madagascar following a coordinated meeting between relevant services. It brings together the Ministry of Transport and Meteorology, the Urban Municipality of Antananarivo, the General Directorate of Road Safety, the Police Prefecture, and law enforcement forces.
