Despite waves of criticism and opposition sparked by its emergence, the new political platform VFM is already positioning itself as an unstoppable force and the future spearhead of the Fanavaozana regime. An assumed alliance. "Our representatives met with the president of the Refondation. Its creation was concluded with the agreement of Colonel Michaël Randrianirina. We had his blessing," insisted Pety Rakotoniaina, deputy for Ikalamavony and vice-president of Vovonan'ny Fihavaozan'i Madagasikara, or VFM. According to his explanations, this initiative would directly respond to a request from the president of the Refondation concerning the involvement and support of parliamentarians toward Colonel Michaël Randrianirina. Pressures In fact, VFM brings together loyalists of the former presidential majority (IRMAR) who quickly switched sides to pledge allegiance to the new power, following the fall of the Rajoelina regime. Since its appearance, the platform has crystallized all tensions. For some segments of opinion, it embodies the quintessence of Malagasy political pragmatism: unscrupulous elected officials capable of changing colors with the wind and their personal interests. Worse, voices are speaking out to denounce pressures exerted on local elected officials. According to certain reports, VFM members would strongly encourage mayors and other local leaders to join their ranks, under penalty of being swept away and replaced by PDS members. Opportunists Certainly, the president of the Refondation does not yet have his own political machine, and VFM could well serve as a springboard to consolidate his position and win the next electoral contests. But this marriage of convenience is going badly, very badly indeed. It revives the anger and deep frustration of actors in the September and October 2025 movements, outraged to see these "opportunistic" deputies strutting about today as impeccable moral authorities. One thing is certain: given the winding path of these political transhumants, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina would do well to watch his back. For with such allies, a change of allegiance is never far away. In any case, the platform is mobilizing to establish its structures at the grassroots level.
