A minibus traveling from Antananarivo to Mananjary veered off the road yesterday near Mandamako, close to Ambohimahasoa. A mother lost her life in the accident and nine other people, including the driver, were injured. The tragedy occurred as the vehicle was transporting passengers to Ifanadiana. According to the deceased victim's husband, they were heading to that locality hoping to find work. The victim was accompanied by her baby, only a few months old. She unfortunately did not survive the accident. Nine other minibus occupants were injured, including the driver. The first responders at the scene were police officers from Ambohimahasoa. They were heading to Fianarantsoa to play a football match when they discovered the crashed minibus. Faced with the situation, they immediately provided assistance to the victims and helped evacuate the injured to Ambohimahasoa hospital. Initial information suggests a possible overload of baggage on the vehicle's roof. Their weight may have destabilized the minibus, causing it to veer off the road. This hypothesis remains to be confirmed by investigations. The exact circumstances of the accident will need to be established by the competent authorities.
