Many cars are immobilized after municipal police installed large metal barriers on sidewalks. People are suffering because removing them incurs additional penalties. Vehicle owners must contact authorities and pay fees before a locksmith can remove the wheel clamp. This process is far from quick, and delays are inevitable. Beyond this, there are far too many traffic violations in Antananarivo, and the city's residents have lost patience with the situation. Parking attendants are not responsible since the designated zones keep changing for cleaning operations. Nevertheless, many residents are questioning how to obtain 'tickets' that would allow legal parking, especially since information is lacking and some ticket-selling locations are far away, yet 'parking blocks' are everywhere. Ultimately, the city needs to expand parking areas to accommodate vehicles, as even those willing to follow rules find nowhere to park. This has become utterly frustrating for car owners. All residents in Tana feel this problem acutely.
