'Passerelle' brings together the works of Edouard Rajaona and Richianny Ratovo at the IFM. Presented at the Institut français de Madagascar (IFM) from September 8 to October 10, the exhibition 'Passerelle' juxtaposes the works of Edouard Rajaona and Richianny Ratovo, curated by Hemerson Andrianetrazafy. It aligns with the IFM's annual theme, 'Of Memory and Future'.

Edouard Rajaona, who passed away earlier this year, devoted nearly fifty years to art. A prominent figure in Malagasy painting and master of impressionism, he distinguished himself particularly through his landscapes and rural life scenes. Also a sculptor, he worked with rosewood and granite. In 2024, he celebrated fifty years of his career at the Alliance française d'Antananarivo.

Richianny Ratovo represents a more recent generation of Malagasy creation. A multidisciplinary visual artist, she won the Paritana Prize in 2021, then the gold medal in painting at the Francophonie Games in 2023. In 2025, she represented Madagascar at the 36th São Paulo Biennial.

The interest of 'Passerelle' lies precisely in the encounter of their universes. According to Hemerson Andrianetrazafy, Edouard Rajaona develops a more structured body of work, while Richianny Ratovo explores a plastic language with multiple facets. Two paths and two sensibilities meet around painting, in a dialogue between memory and future.
