A Mauritian national was shot dead by police on Saturday in Mananara Avaratra after killing his 34-year-old partner and mother of two. According to witnesses, he was known for domestic violence. This time, he took the woman's life. The femicide occurred around 1 a.m. in Antanambao. Armed with a knife, the man inflicted serious wounds to the woman's head and arms. Despite intervention by neighbors and her transfer to hospital, the victim did not survive. The suspect fled and attempted to leave the city by car. Spotted at Androkaroka, he was taken to the police station but managed to escape en route. Barricaded in a wooded area of Mahambolona, he mounted violent resistance against officers, armed with a carefully concealed knife. After several unheeded warnings, police opened fire and fatally struck him. Born in 1985 in Mauritius, he was also carrying a packet of cigarettes containing cannabis residue.
