Madagascar Mozarteum brings together Quatuor & Squad and Lanner Ensemble for the 172nd Classical Midday Concert on Tuesday, September 15 at IFM Analakely. Lanner Ensemble will share the stage with Quatuor & Squad at IFM Analakely.

Two ensembles, two countries and a shared passion for classical music. Organized by Madagascar Mozarteum, the 172nd Classical Midday Concert will unite Quatuor & Squad from Madagascar and Lanner Ensemble from Germany on Tuesday, September 15 at the Institut français de Madagascar (IFM) Analakely. String instruments will be at the heart of this event, with a program dedicated to great classical masterpieces.

The meeting will begin with Quatuor & Squad. Recently renamed, the ensemble was founded in 2016 by the initiative of four childhood friends passionate about string instruments. Initially, the group focused mainly on 18th-century classical, baroque and romantic repertoires. The term "Squad," meaning "team" in English, refers to the complicity and cohesion between its members.

Over the years, the quartet has also distinguished itself by breaking the codes of classical music, notably by integrating pop influences, variety and traditional Malagasy rhythms into its musical universe. For this concert, the ensemble will present its repertoire before giving way to Lanner Ensemble.

International Dimension
Coming from Germany and enjoying a certain reputation in the musical world, Lanner Ensemble will continue the concert with its own program. Its participation brings an international dimension to this 172nd Classical Midday Concert and creates a dialogue between two ensembles from different horizons.

The meeting will not stop at this succession of performances. The two ensembles will also reunite on stage to perform together a piece, giving special emphasis to collaboration between Malagasy and German musicians.

The program will notably feature works by Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, two great figures of classical music. The works will be performed by string instruments and the interpretation of the musicians, in an event marked by passion and virtuosity.

This programming will allow the public to rediscover great classics while discovering the meeting between a Malagasy ensemble that has opened classical repertoire to other influences, and a German ensemble.
