Despite disruptions caused by Cyclone Gezani in the Atsinanana region during the 2025-2026 school year, Toamasina I school district has achieved strong results in official exams. The CEPE pass rate for the 2025-2026 school year reached 78.84%, with some schools achieving a 100% pass rate. The Fanjiry association, chaired by Elisa Randrianirina, First Lady of the Republic of Madagascar, has boosted education in this region. It established free tutoring courses for students preparing for CEPE, BEPC, and Baccalaureate exams following the cyclone's passage. These free courses, provided by Fanjiry in partnership with the Ministry of National Education through the Atsinanana regional directorate, significantly contributed to these results. Approximately 200 teachers were trained as part of this initiative to share their knowledge and prepare 8,200 students for official exams. On September 5, 2026, an awards ceremony was held at Toamasina Gymnasium to recognize students who achieved the best results in recent exams. In addition to certificates of recognition, outstanding students received school supplies and material support to begin the new school year under better conditions.
