SHENZHEN, September 5 (Xinhua) — Xinhua's communication effectiveness evaluation system released Chinese and English versions of a report on APEC-related narratives on Saturday at the Asia-Pacific Media Forum held in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. Titled "Sharing Inspiring Stories from the Asia-Pacific Region, Contributing to China's Constructive Solutions — Overview of APEC Narratives Based on the Asia-Pacific Communication Index," the report was developed using multilingual data resources and intelligent research and analysis technologies from Xinhua's Communication Effectiveness Evaluation System. The report covers the period from 2023 to the first half of 2026 and analyzes over 200,000 information samples from more than 200 major media outlets across the Asia-Pacific region. The report establishes a quantitative evaluation system based on four dimensions — communication intensity, communication scope, communication depth, and communication attitude — to assess the impact of APEC-related communication across the region, identify narrative characteristics and communication patterns within Asia-Pacific media, and objectively present public opinion trends and the evolution of Asia-Pacific cooperation. The report emphasizes that APEC communication patterns are undergoing profound changes, gradually shifting from "event-focused communication centered on annual meetings" to "regular discussions based on shared values." This evolution responds to the common aspirations of all economies for development, effectively consolidating consensus on long-term regional cooperation and promoting widespread dissemination of the Asia-Pacific community vision. According to the report, openness, innovation, and cooperation have emerged as primary APEC communication themes. Among these, in-depth interpretations of "openness" represent the largest share; topics related to "innovation" dominate in growth rate; and "cooperation" enjoys the widest reach and strongest regional consensus. These three themes reinforce each other, continuously contributing to forging consensus on regional development and creating a favorable climate within international public opinion for building the Asia-Pacific community. Given the complexity of the regional context, the report emphasizes that deepening synergies and consolidating communication efforts among media across the region are of great practical importance. China will continue to deepen dialogue and cooperation with Asia-Pacific economies, build bridges to strengthen mutual trust and communication, and collaborate with regional media to promote Asia-Pacific narratives of openness and inclusivity, innovation-driven development, and win-win cooperation, thereby contributing to the region's sustainable prosperity.
