The Ministry of Interior and Decentralization has officially appointed Tondraha Razaha as President of the Special Delegation (PDS) by decree dated August 31. A well-known figure in the corridors of City Hall, the new top official is on familiar ground. Before this appointment, he served as president of the Municipal Council under the Firaisankina platform banner. He will be supported in his mission by two vice-presidents, Veloson Grégoire Randrianandrasana and Serge Vital. This designation ends a long period of uncertainty and fills an institutional void that has been detrimental to the capital of the South. The municipality had been navigating turbulent waters since the tragic death of Jean Rabehaja. Elected mayor in the November 2024 municipal elections, he was quickly struck by illness. Forced to seek intensive care abroad, he succumbed in early May during a medical evacuation to India. The prolonged vacancy of the executive office had paralyzed the functioning of the municipality. The establishment of this Special Delegation thus meets regulatory requirements to address the most pressing needs.
