Malagasy artist Babaïque is continuing his medical treatment in India. After several months of fighting his illness, the 55-year-old artist arrived in India on September 3rd and is receiving daily medication and regular medical follow-up. "I spoke with him yesterday and found him stable over the phone," says a family member.

Ill for approximately one year, the artist underwent several months of chemotherapy before his condition worsened about a month ago with the onset of heart failure. After receiving care at Befelatanana before his evacuation, he is now undergoing regular tests in India to clarify his diagnosis and determine the next steps in his treatment.

Given the significant expenses related to his care, his family is calling for solidarity and thanks those providing financial or moral support, as well as those praying for him. His evacuation was made possible through the mobilization of Mamy Gotso, the ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Communication and Culture, as well as the associations Manavao and Fanjiry, Fidelis Manager, artists, loved ones, and various organizations.

Born on February 26, 1971 under the name David Baba Jean David, Babaïque became known in Malagasy music in the early 2000s, particularly in variety and salegy. As a singer-songwriter, he is notably known for "Anao Tiako" with Cynthia and wrote "Ilaiko anao" for Bodo and "Mbo Ho Janga" for Lianah.
