MANDROSEZA - Thieves Steal Jirama Equipment
Authorities conducted a raid following the theft of Jirama equipment. A theft of high-value materials occurred at Jirama Mandroseza at the end of August, resulting in several arrests, according to the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. "During a field operation, the driver and vehicle used to transport the equipment were caught in the act," states an official statement. Investigations by competent authorities recovered part of the stolen materials. Inquiries and searches continue to identify and apprehend all accomplices involved in this criminal act. The ministry warns the public against purchasing suspicious equipment that may originate from this theft, as well as against receiving or reselling these goods. "Anyone who buys, receives, possesses or sells stolen goods faces legal prosecution," the institution warns. Upon learning of the incident, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Minister Dr Minosoa Anjaratiana Elia Razafindrianiaina visited the site to assess the situation and take emergency measures. She was accompanied by the Energy and Hydrocarbons Minister, the Deputy Minister in charge of the National Gendarmerie, the Secretary General of the Presidency in charge of Refoundation, and the Jirama Director General.
