Chinese President Xi Jinping declared Monday that China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to open a new "golden decade" in bilateral relations as the two countries celebrate the 10th anniversary of their comprehensive strategic partnership. President Xi made the remarks during a meeting with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) 2026 summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Under the leadership of both heads of state, bilateral relations have continuously improved and strengthened, with fruitful cooperation in various fields and notable progress in building a community of shared future between China and Uzbekistan, Xi recalled. China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to consolidate mutual strategic trust and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, he added. Xi emphasized that regardless of how the international situation evolves, China's commitment to deepening bilateral friendship would remain unwavering, and China would continue to support Uzbekistan in pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions. Xi called on both parties to work together to advance bilateral cooperation. He indicated that the two sides should promote high-quality construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, expand cooperation in fields such as artificial intelligence and desertification control, and pursue mutual benefits and win-win results. Efforts should also be made to maintain the momentum of local-level exchanges, accelerate the establishment of cultural centers in both countries, expand cooperation in fields such as education and poverty reduction, and promote mutual understanding between the two peoples, Xi said. The two parties must make good use of their law enforcement and security cooperation mechanisms, jointly combat the "three evil forces" of terrorism, separatism and extremism, and strengthen security barriers, Xi noted. As founding members of the SCO, China and Uzbekistan should work together to fully implement the outcomes of the Tianjin summit and promote regional development and prosperity, Xi said. For his part, Mirziyoyev warmly congratulated China on the significant achievements it continues to accomplish in development under Xi's leadership, noting that China had met global challenges with confidence and determination. He expressed full confidence in the promising prospects of Chinese modernization. Uzbekistan and China share deep friendship and have always understood and supported each other, he noted, adding that Xi's vision had opened vast prospects for Uzbekistan-China relations and guided the overall development of cooperation between the two parties in various fields. Mirziyoyev added that Uzbekistan remained firmly committed to developing its relations with China, a position that will not change regardless of how the international situation evolves. Uzbekistan is ready to work with China to deepen mutual political trust, expand trade and investment, strengthen cooperation in fields such as agriculture, transportation, energy, mineral resources, science and technology, promote people-to-people exchanges, jointly combat the "three evil forces" of terrorism, separatism and extremism, and bring bilateral relations to a higher level, Mirziyoyev said. Uzbekistan firmly adheres to the principle of one China.
