Several priority areas were reviewed during the exchange. The two diplomats notably assessed the health sector, a key area where American support remains highly significant, as well as the dynamic development of commercial exchanges between the two nations. The fight against transnational crime also held a central place in discussions, reflecting shared determination to secure the region and preserve common interests. Currently heading the American representation as interim Chargé d'Affaires, Tom Bevan will continue this mission until the official arrival of the new US Ambassador. He will not leave the island, however: the diplomat will subsequently assume the position of Deputy Chief of Mission for a three-year mandate. A strong signal of continuity. This bilateral meeting reaffirms the solidity of historical ties between Madagascar and the United States.
