The Ministry of Economy and Finance, through the Public Treasury, has been designated 'Gender Inclusive Finance Champion' within the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI). The distinction was presented on Thursday, September 3, 2026, in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, during the Global Policy Forum (GPF), an international meeting dedicated to financial inclusion policies. The certificate was received by Mbinison Dorette Ratsiavahana, Director General of Madagascar's Public Treasury, accompanied by representatives from the National Coordination of Financial Inclusion. This recognition rewards actions taken to promote women's access to financial services and strengthen their contribution to economic development. The Public Treasury had already been designated 'Gender Finance Inclusive Ambassador' within the AFI network in 2025. Innovations. Several initiatives were highlighted. These include strengthening support for the We-Fi Code, designed to promote women-led enterprises, as well as the dissemination of financial education programs in several regions of the country. More than 70% of beneficiaries of these actions are women. The Public Treasury also supports banks and microfinance institutions in designing products tailored to women's needs, notably 'credit with education,' combining financing and support. Support is also provided to projects promoting female entrepreneurship. Another major focus: monitoring and supporting savings groups, where women represent more than 75% of members. Through these various actions, the objective remains to foster broader financial inclusion and better economic autonomy for women.
