Malagasy artist Babaïque has been evacuated to India to receive specialized treatment for heart failure that developed following months of cancer treatment. The 55-year-old singer arrived in India yesterday and will continue his medical care there.

According to FalyBicky, a member of Babaïque's group, the artist has been ill for approximately one year. He initially underwent cancer treatment and received nearly a year of chemotherapy, which showed promising progress. However, about a month ago, his condition deteriorated with the onset of heart failure, necessitating this medical evacuation to India. Prior to his departure, he was treated at Befelatanana Hospital.

Financial needs remain significant. The family is appealing for solidarity to ensure continued treatment in India. "The fight is just beginning," they remind supporters, inviting anyone able to contribute to do so.

This evacuation required multiple procedures and support from various stakeholders. Contributors include Mamy Gotso, who provided financial assistance and facilitated arrangements, as well as the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Communication and Culture. The family also thanks officials who facilitated the evacuation, Malagasy doctors, and all those who offered support.

The family acknowledges assistance from associations Manavao and Fanjiry, Fidelis Manager, artists close to Babaïque, relatives, various organizations, and Malagasy citizens who contributed financial aid, moral support, or prayers. Special thanks go to Mamy Gotso for his swift mobilization.

Born February 26, 1971, Babaïque—real name David Baba Jean David—is a prominent figure in Malagasy music. He began singing in the early 2000s and gained recognition in variety music, particularly slow songs and salegy. Among his best-known titles is "Anao Tiako" with Cynthia. He has also written numerous songs for other artists, including "Ilaiko anao" for Bodo and "Mbo Ho Janga" for Lianah.
