Preparations for relocating transport operators from Fasan'ny Karàna parking are underway. However, cooperatives are taking opposing positions.
Transport operators are divided: some want to remain at Fasan'ny Karàna parking, while others are considering moving to the Amoronakona bus station. These conflicting positions follow a 15-day ultimatum issued by the Ministry of Transport and Meteorology to Fasan'ny Karàna operators to relocate to Amoronakona.
"Of course we will move to this new station. The location suits us because of its proximity," said the president of a transport cooperative serving Antananarivo and southeastern regions yesterday. A representative from this cooperative attended a meeting organized by the Ministry of Transport and Meteorology for taxi-brousse cooperative leaders serving national route 7 on Wednesday. This meeting helped dispel doubts and misunderstandings among operators still reluctant to leave the parking.
Their main concern is passenger arrival at Amoronakona bus station. Many believe the station is too far from the city center, while their primary passengers are merchants shopping downtown, particularly in Anosibe, Behoririka, and Andravoahangy. Since opening in June, the station has remained largely empty.

The ministry assures that shuttle services will connect Amoronakona to the city center and surrounding areas, and urban train frequency will improve. Currently, three daily departures operate from Soarano at 5:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. Rational management of parking spaces was also discussed to better serve transport vehicles while ensuring quality public services to national and foreign passengers.
Transport operators cite several reasons for their position. "Passengers refuse to come to Amoronakona; it's too far for our main clients," said Vincent de Paul Razafimanantsoa, cooperative president. Some passengers have expressed interest in Amoronakona station and regret that cooperatives are absent.
Razafimanantsoa added they will not leave this parking. "Amoronakona bus station doesn't meet passenger needs, including those from Tolagnaro who often sleep in parking spaces, while the one at Amoronakona is very narrow," he explained. He noted they have requested an audience with the president of Madagascar's Republic Refoundation. They propose developing land at Androndrakely as an alternative for operators serving the southern route.
