A body was discovered in a drainage canal in the Tanjombato area yesterday. The deceased was found with both hands positioned on his chest, as if he had struggled before death. When authorities and officials arrived at the scene, the body was removed. It was determined to be a male. According to witnesses in the area, the man was a street vendor (porter) working for hire. An investigation was launched into the circumstances of the death. Yesterday, photographs of the incident circulated widely on social media. The discovery of a deceased person in such unusual circumstances has become a recurring concern for residents, particularly in the capital. The case raises many questions. While it is confirmed the man was a street vendor and likely homeless, it remains unclear why he would have been sleeping in a water-filled drainage canal. It is possible he may have been placed there after dying elsewhere. D.R
