The National Bureau for Risk and Disaster Management (BNGRC) is strengthening its intervention capacity with 18 new rapid boats. Intended for search and rescue operations, these resources should enable faster access to isolated populations or those cut off from the rest of the country in case of disaster. This equipment will reinforce the teams' ability to intervene directly in affected areas to search, rescue and evacuate people in danger. The provision of these boats addresses the essential challenge of reducing the time between alert and arrival of emergency services. However, their effectiveness will depend on their geographic distribution, maintenance, and the availability of trained teams to operate them. It should be noted that this allocation is part of the CERP emergency project, financed by the World Bank and implemented by the Development Intervention Fund (FID). It reflects a strengthening of resources dedicated to disaster response.
