Beyond school supplies and tuition fees, children's safety on the journey between home and school is a primary worry. To minimize risks, some parents prefer to escort their children to and from school themselves. Others, held back by work commitments, entrust this responsibility to a domestic helper. Specific instructions are then established: stay alert, prevent the child from lingering, and especially forbid them from playing along the way. "If possible, it would be better for parents to pick up their children themselves. It's really difficult to entrust this responsibility to someone else," one parent testifies. The situation is particularly concerning for younger children, who remain dependent on adults for transportation. For parents, vigilance must therefore be constant, both on the route and around the school premises.
