From September 14 to 26, designer and researcher Domi Sanji will occupy the Fonds régional d'art contemporain (FRAC) Réunion to lead "Ombres tressées," a research-creation workshop dedicated to vernacular weaving practices of the Indian Ocean. This event brings together architects, creators and artisans from the Indian Ocean region around woven plant materials, conceived both as a memorial imprint and a vector for plastic innovation. Founder of "Tana Design Week" and doctoral candidate at the University of Antananarivo, Domi Sanji deploys a methodology drawn from his Malagasy fieldwork, from Vohimana to the Tsingy of Bemaraha, which articulates craftsmanship, biodiversity and contextual regeneration. Accompanied by young talents from "Ndao Hanavao," he also co-directs the documentary spatial presentation of the restitution alongside artist Arnaud Jamet and architect Magalie Munier. The exhibition will open to the public from late September to mid-November. Through this approach, the designer advocates for decentralization of European creative institutions in favor of regional cultural dynamics and sovereignty.
