They targeted a taxi-motorcycle. But during the theft, they were caught and the two-wheeler was returned to its owner. This was thanks to GPS installed on the vehicle. Here's how these criminals operated. One of them negotiated a ride on a taxi-motorcycle near Anosy. The route was long, going all the way to Talatavolonondry. When the two reached an agreement, the trap was set. There was significant activity behind the scenes. Once on the road and after contacting Radio Netherland, they asked the driver to stop briefly, claiming they needed to call home to arrange transport payment. But that wasn't their real intention—instead, they attacked their companion. At a second location, they called out and a man emerged who had been hiding, then violently assaulted the taxi-motorcycle driver. The driver managed to escape, and the criminals fled with the motorcycle. The actual motorcycle owner (who employed the taxi-motorcycle operator) was informed and immediately called the police. Technology proved decisive because the motorcycle had GPS. The two suspects were tracked and their route was monitored: Ambodifasina, Tsarasaotra, Ankorondrano, Ankazomanga, Ankasina, and Andohatapenaka. The location where they had to pass was identified and proved crucial. Police from Bemasoandro-Itaosy quickly arrived and took charge. The criminals nearly caused a commotion but were quickly subdued. Onlookers witnessed the incident, and what seemed like another street justice situation unfolded. However, police swiftly intervened, arrested the individuals, and took them to the station. That same day, an investigation was opened and the motorcycle was returned to its owner.
