The official groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the cargo storage facility at the 'port sec' Tanandava was held yesterday, a project being undertaken by the Toamasina Port Authority through the company Colas. This site will follow the heavy vehicle inspection area, as it will serve as a parking area for heavy vehicles, accommodation for drivers, and a rest area. The port authority is collaborating with international banks on this development project, which has garnered support from various transport authorities, local Toamasina officials, and the head of the regional development committee overseeing Toamasina. The Toamasina Port Authority has already confirmed that it will compensate residents whose homes were demolished in 'Port Sec III'. Compensation was provided during the process: 20 million ariary for houses and 10 million ariary for wooden structures, distributed to approximately 20 beneficiaries in the second phase. Land titles were also distributed to around 40 residents who received compensation. Residents whose homes were demolished in 'Port Sec III' have received their compensation, despite ongoing land-related issues at Tanandava.
