Alzheimer: Support Group for Families This Saturday
Alzheimer's disease continues to affect many Malagasy families, disrupting the daily lives of loved ones who face considerable emotional and material challenges. To support them, the association Madagascar Alzheimer Masoandro Mody has been organizing monthly meetings called "Dinika Tora-po" or "support group" for nearly ten years. These free sessions provide a space for sharing and comfort for families caring for their patients, helping to break isolation and find solutions suited to their difficulties. The next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the association's headquarters in Fenomanana Mahazoarivo. Participants can discuss the heavy responsibilities of daily care while meeting new friends facing the same reality. Registration is by SMS to 034 22 612 02 before September 4, and no financial contribution is required. However, as places are limited, the association invites only caregivers who actually provide daily care for their patients to register to ensure quality discussions. Alzheimer's disease, characterized by progressive memory loss and cognitive decline, remains a difficult trial for families. It often causes great psychological and physical fatigue in caregivers. This is why these support groups play an essential role: they allow not only sharing experiences but also strengthening solidarity and reminding people that no one faces this disease alone.
