Unlawful land transfers are being carried out by individuals claiming to be landowners. There have been no formal transactions or negotiations—only small, unsigned A4 papers without official seals circulating and being distributed throughout the Ambodimita area and surrounding regions. "This is being done to avoid problems with the land records," states the text on these papers. Reports indicate that individuals are attempting to transfer land in the Ambodimita area, specifically in the location known as "Androvolahy Section H Anosisoa." Approximately five hectares of land, described as mostly uncultivated and fallow, have allegedly been marked off, with transfers already occurring on five plots. The problem, however, lies with these plots: they are already registered and legally owned by others, and residents have now raised their voices in protest. "We have never sold our land to anyone and have made no such arrangements," say representatives of the legitimate owners. "Yet someone is now acting recklessly with these false transfers and causing serious trouble." It is reported that the perpetrators are unknown to the residents, and they employ numerous intermediaries. These intermediaries are distributing papers throughout the town under the watch of local authorities, according to accounts. Nightly, groups of around 30 people have been seen surveying and transferring the land, according to reports. The commune has been informed of the situation and residents have lodged complaints as stated by the landowners.
