RN4 - Berivotra Bridge: Light Vehicle Detour Now Open
Relief for RN4 users. Work on assembling the modular metal Bailey-type bridge at KM 520+010 on RN4, Berivotra bridge, in the fokontany of Berivotra, rural commune of Antanambao Andranolava, Marovoay district, initially scheduled for Sunday, August 30 at 7 a.m. through Monday, August 31 at 7 p.m., has been suspended. The Ministry of Public Works changed course, rescheduling the work to today through tomorrow at 7 p.m. Initially, the road was to be completely closed with no detour available during construction. Major efforts are being deployed to facilitate bridge construction. Yesterday, the ministry's statement reassured users that traffic would not be completely interrupted. A detour has been set up for light vehicles. "The detour established to facilitate traffic opened Monday. Work on this detour, primarily serving the Mahajanga region, began Saturday. Consequently, affected vehicles can use this alternative route throughout the work period. Furthermore, Berivotra bridge construction will last two days, Tuesday, September 1 and Wednesday, September 2, 2026. All road users are reminded to follow on-site instructions and exercise caution during work. Additionally, Mangapaika bridge construction is complete. The left support on the Mahajanga side has been raised," the statement read.
