Beyond the competition, the event highlighted young people's cultural openness and Sino-Malagasy rapprochement. The General Knowledge Contest on China, organized by the Chinese Embassy in Madagascar, reached its climax last Saturday at the Amphitheater of the Confucius Institute at the University of Antananarivo. More than 4,000 young people from various Confucius Institute sites participated in this second edition, demonstrating the growing interest of Malagasy students in Chinese language and culture. The final brought together 18 candidates from across the country. Avo Finoana Princie Razafindraibe, a first-year student at Vakinankaratra University studying letters and Chinese culture, claimed first place. She won a prize of 2 million ariary. "My wish is to continue my studies in China. Chinese culture and traditions deeply inspire me," she said emotionally. According to Maroy Prisca Rasoanirina, Malagasy director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Antananarivo, the number of participants has increased, a sign of genuine enthusiasm among young people for learning Chinese. She emphasized that this skill opens many opportunities, both in Madagascar and in China, where economic and cultural exchanges are multiplying. For his part, Wan Peng, minister-counselor of the Chinese Embassy, praised the level of the competitors, stating that some Chinese people themselves do not master as much general knowledge about their country as the young Malagasy present. He also expressed his gratitude to the teachers of the Confucius Institutes for their role in transmitting knowledge. This contest, beyond the competition, is part of a dynamic of strengthening Sino-Malagasy friendship. Other cultural events are planned to consolidate this bridge between the two nations and encourage young people to open themselves further to the world.
