Since July 8, the new Compact Treatment Unit (UCT) in Tanjombato has been running at full capacity. The result of successful cooperation between the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (MEAH), the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and the World Bank Group, through the Project to Improve Access to Drinking Water (PAAEP), this modern infrastructure is breathing new life into the Jirama network. With an impressive production capacity of 100 m³ of water per hour, or approximately 2,400 m³ per day, this plant significantly strengthens supply to several fokontany. Tanjombato, Andoharanofotsy, Ankarobato, Ifarihy, Mahalavolona, Ankadilalampotsy, Volotara, and Tongarivo are among the main districts benefiting from this concrete advance. Standards On the technical side, the station has a state-of-the-art purification chain: coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration and final sterilization. Result: water that strictly complies with national standards and World Health Organization (WHO) requirements. To ensure optimal health safety, the Jirama laboratory conducts regular physicochemical and bacteriological analyses, supported by counter-expertise conducted by the Pasteur Institute of Madagascar.
