Sarobaratra – Tsaratanàna: Two cattle thieves arrested
On the morning of June 23, 2026, around 8 a.m., police officers working in the Morarano sub-district of Sarobaratra commune, Tsaratanàna district, Betsiboka region, arrested a man found in possession of two stolen cattle. The animals were traced to Malakialina commune, Mampikony district, Sofia region. During the arrest, residents of Sarobaratra identified a person who had sold them the two cattle. The suspect was arrested without a warrant at his home and placed in police custody. The two cattle have been impounded pending verification of ownership documents. Authorities in Malakialina have also been notified of the arrests. According to the investigation, a man from Antomponikatsaka village in Malakialina commune had reported four cattle stolen from his home in May 2026. Despite initial searches by police, no results were found. The owner continued searching privately and discovered two of his cattle in Sarobaratra, among others still missing. He alerted police, leading to the arrests of the two suspects.
