RN4: Small vehicle overturns, two dead
A tragic accident occurred on the RN4 highway over the weekend, claiming two lives. A small vehicle carrying a family that had left Boina was heading to Antananarivo when it overturned a few kilometers before Maevatanana. The vehicle was completely destroyed, and two occupants inside died, while others were seriously injured. The accident happened around 10 a.m. on Saturday, according to available reports. Poor road conditions are cited as the cause of the accident. Eyewitnesses say the vehicle appeared to lose control suddenly and could not be corrected despite light braking beforehand. The vehicle swerved and left the road, hitting a tree on the roadside before overturning, according to family accounts. Those who witnessed the accident stopped to help the victims and transported them to Maevatanana hospital. Police arrived at the scene to investigate and assess the situation. The RN4 highway is reportedly 80 percent in good condition. However, many families travel at high speeds on this route. Despite improvements, temporary repairs, potholes, and extreme heat around Maevatanana remain hazards for daytime travelers, potentially causing accidents and vehicle damage. Caution and vigilance on the road are essential. The loss of life cannot be overlooked. Poor road visibility is one of the main causes of accidents on this route.
