The Tanjombato UCT. The water shortage in southern Antananarivo is gradually being resolved. Water production has increased in this area. The Compact Treatment Unit (UCT) of Tanjombato, operational since July 8, produces 100 m³ per hour, or 2,400 m³ of drinking water per day. This infrastructure strengthens the water supply to Tanjombato, Andoharanofotsy, Ankaraobato, Ifarihy, Mahalavolona, Ankadilalampotsy, Volotara and Tongarivo, as well as surrounding localities. This infrastructure was developed as part of the Project to Improve Access to Drinking Water (PAAEP), under the supervision of the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (MEAH) and the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), and financed by the World Bank Group. The PAAEP ensures water potability. This unit treats water in several stages, including cleaning, filtering and disinfection to make it completely safe to drink. The water produced meets national drinking water standards and those of the World Health Organization (WHO). Its quality is regularly tested by the Jirama laboratory, then confirmed by the Pasteur Institute of Madagascar. Other projects, including Tana Water III, whose infrastructure installation is underway, should improve water supply in southern Antananarivo by 2027. Miangaly Ralitera
