Madagascar is facing meteorological tension. Cold will intensify over the central Highlands while several coastal areas are on alert due to strengthening winds. For the coming days, Météo Madagascar urges caution both on land and at sea. Madagascar is preparing for a sharp drop in temperatures. According to forecasts issued by the general meteorology directorate on August 27, a moderate to strong trade wind regime will affect the entire country, with particularly windy conditions over the central Highlands and the eastern coast. A significant temperature drop is also expected across much of the island. Minimum temperatures are expected to fall to 6°C in Ambatolampy, while they could reach 7°C in Ivohibe and 8°C in Antsirabe. In Antananarivo, the thermometer could show 13 to 14°C at its lowest during the weekend. Cold will thus be one of the main meteorological features of the coming days. Winds up to 55 km/h on several coasts. This deterioration also affects coastal zones. In an alert issued on August 27 as well, Météo Madagascar reports winds reaching approximately 55 km/h on the Atsimo-Andrefana coast. The phenomenon is expected to gradually extend toward the southern and eastern coasts, with winds estimated between 45 and 55 km/h. The alert concerns notably the Androy and Anosy coastlines, the sector between Manakara and Cape Bobaomby, as well as the area between Mahajanga and Analalava. Météo Madagascar warns against traffic difficulties and sea risks, particularly shipwrecks, as well as disruptions to daily activities. Populations are urged to follow local authorities' instructions.
