A traffic accident occurred yesterday afternoon around 2:30 PM in front of the Anosimasina Itaosy pharmacy. A white Range Rover 4x4 collided with a tanker truck. The impact was violent. The front of the 4x4 was completely crushed, the hood bent, the grille destroyed, and the engine with its cables exposed. The tanker truck was hit on its left side but remained drivable. Pieces of metal and plastic scattered across the road, blocking traffic.
The female passenger in the front of the 4x4 suffered a head wound and was taken to hospital. No deaths were reported. Police at the scene secured the area and facilitated vehicle passage. Onlookers gathered around the damaged vehicles.
The 4x4 driver explained he had fallen asleep at the wheel after a long journey. The truck driver said he saw the 4x4 zigzagging as it came up from Anosimasina and had slowed down. Some witnesses mentioned possible alcohol consumption, a hypothesis that the investigation will need to verify.
