In political exile in a foreign country since October 2025, the ex-head of state has nonetheless not failed to address his wishes to the Malagasy people. While stripped of his Malagasy nationality by the leaders of the Refondation, Andry Rajoelina reaffirms his attachment to Madagascar through a speech tailored to show that his patriotism remains intact. "My patriotism remains alive like a flame in my heart," he emphasized. In a message posted early in the morning on his Facebook page, the TGV addresses special thoughts to bereaved families, those who are ill during this festive period, and disadvantaged families. He also did not forget his supporters and companions in struggle who are imprisoned and/or victims of persecution because of their patriotic or political commitment. "You are not alone and I am with you with all my heart," he affirms. To conclude this latest media appearance, the former president of the Republic addresses a message of hope and encouragement to the Malagasy people, declaring that "one day, the sun will shine again to illuminate Madagascar, our dear Homeland." Remarks that many observers consider as a way for the former resident of Iavoloha to make known that he does not abdicate and does not rule out the possibility of a comeback. It remains to be seen whether his successors will allow him a free hand.
