The Justice Ministry announces stricter enforcement of ethical standards within its services. In an official statement, the department affirms that the law, regulatory texts, and code of ethics applicable to Justice and Prison Administration agents will henceforth be applied "rigorously and without distinction." This position is accompanied by concrete measures concerning the Anti-Corruption Unit (PAC) in Antananarivo and the high-security prison in Imerintsiatosika. At the Antananarivo PAC, three prosecutors have been suspended from their duties. According to the ministry, this decision was made by the Anti-Corruption Units Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (CSE). It follows an inspection and investigation conducted by the Central Bureau for Justice Control (BCCJ), as well as opinions from senior Justice officials. Several violations justify these suspensions: failure to fulfill duties and responsibilities, irregularities in case management, and non-compliance with obligations related to their positions. The ministry seeks to reinforce the standards required of magistrates assigned to this anti-corruption structure. Administrative sanctions have also been imposed in the Prison Administration. Fifteen agents from the high-security prison in Imerintsiatosika have been suspended following an escape attempt on August 7, 2026. Negligence in performing their duties was found during investigations conducted by the Prison Inspection Directorate (DIP). The ministry notes that the detainee involved in the escape attempt has since been recaptured, in accordance with directives from the Justice Minister. In total, eighteen ministry agents are affected by these suspension decisions. The department assures that all measures were taken in compliance with current legislation and administrative procedures. The stated objective is to preserve the dignity, integrity, and proper functioning of judicial and prison services. Through this statement, the ministry also sends a message to all its agents: professional and ethical obligations must be respected, regardless of position held. "No one is above the law," it emphasizes, concluding with a principle it intends to apply without exception: "No exceptions before the law."
