In a context marked by climate challenges, pressure on food prices, and growing rural needs, access to inputs remains an essential lever for improving productivity. In his remarks, the representative of the Minister of Economy and Finance praised the significance of this ceremony, which reflects both substantial support for the agricultural sector and the strength of cooperation between the two countries. On behalf of the Malagasy government, he thanked the Japanese government, the Embassy of Japan, and the Japan International Cooperation System for their continued support for Madagascar's economic and social development. Agriculture holds a central place in the national economy. It remains a driver of job creation, rural development, and poverty reduction. As such, the government affirms its commitment to continuing efforts to modernize production systems, facilitate access to agricultural inputs, and strengthen resilience to climate change. Beyond their economic value, the 1,450 tonnes of fertilizer received represent a direct investment in improving the living conditions of rural populations. They should enable support for producers in several regions and strengthen agricultural production capacity. This cooperation also highlights the effectiveness of Counterpart Funds, a mechanism that mobilizes resources from aid received for priority projects. Several initiatives have already been implemented or are underway, particularly in strengthening border security and acquiring rolling stock for administration. Other structural projects await approval, confirming both countries' commitment to continuing a partnership oriented toward concrete impact.
