AMBANIDIA - Man Survives After Being Trapped Under Rubble
A landslide occurred yesterday at Miandrarivo Ambanidia. Around 2 p.m., four workers were constructing a retaining wall at the base of a slope topped by a flat surface used as a parking lot. The ground suddenly collapsed, burying one of them, approximately 23 years old. His three companions managed to escape. The young man remained trapped under the rubble for nearly an hour, with only his head visible, before being rescued. Exhausted but conscious, he was able to drink water during the rescue operation. Firefighters, police from the second district precinct, and neighborhood residents joined forces to clear away tons of earth and stones that held him captive. The young man was finally extracted alive, placed on a stretcher, and transported by ambulance to HJRA for medical care. Police secured the area, regulated traffic, and inspected the site to prevent further risks. "We thought he wouldn't make it, but seeing him still breathing when we freed him gave us hope," said a witness. Gustave Mparany
