Students, high school pupils and teachers gathered to celebrate Russia's Flag Day. Russian language took center stage at La Cité des Cultures on August 22 in Antananarivo. On the occasion of Russia's National Flag Day, students, teachers and high school pupils came together for a concert dedicated to Russian music and literature. Organized by the news agency "African Initiative," the event gave young people the opportunity to practice their language skills and share their interest in Russian culture.
Students and teachers from the Russian Language Department at the University of Antananarivo participated in the event, alongside pupils and teachers from three capital high schools where Russian is taught. Among the guests of honor were Antsa Rahadrianiriana, teacher at the Russian Language Department of the University of Antananarivo, Emmanuel Robert, lecturer in the same department, and Taïssia Alexandrova, Russian as a foreign language teacher at Saint Petersburg State University.
A Space for Sharing
The program featured Russian musical and literary works. On stage, participants performed songs by Oleg Gazmanov, Yuri Antonov, Elena Maksimova, Shaman and the group Lyube. Literature was also represented through recitations of poems by Alexander Pushkin, Sergei Yesenin and Eduard Asadov.
Beyond the performance, the concert served as practical exercise for Russian learners. The songs and poems performed in their original language allowed them to apply their linguistic knowledge while deepening their discovery of Russian cultural heritage.
The event unfolded in a warm and festive atmosphere, fostering exchanges between pupils, students and teachers. This gathering transcended a simple cultural celebration to become a space for sharing around language, music and literature.
Through this initiative, Russia's National Flag Day also took on a cultural dimension between Madagascar and Russia. The gathering symbolized friendship and rapprochement between the two countries, while creating favorable ground for future development of their humanitarian ties.
