In Antsirabe and Manjakandriana, French military personnel shared their expertise with their Malagasy counterparts. From July 27 to August 14, two operational instruction detachments (DIO) from the French Army's 5th Foreign Regiment conducted simultaneous training in these two cities. Two locations, two training programs, but a single objective: strengthen the operational capabilities of Malagasy military personnel and consolidate cooperation between the armed forces of both nations. For nearly three weeks, trainees faced situations mirroring real operational conditions, with emphasis placed on practical application and scenario-based learning. In Antsirabe, instruction focused on several essential competencies. Malagasy military personnel received training in drone operations, combat in open terrain and urban zones, communications, topography, and combat first aid. A comprehensive program designed to enhance both technical capabilities and field coordination. In Manjakandriana, the focus centered on specialized combat engineering skills. Route clearance, explosives handling, barbed wire installation, and improvised explosive device countermeasures formed the core of instruction. These competencies demand rigor, precision, and perfect coordination among all engaged elements. The highlight of these training courses was a demonstration day, during which trainees applied their newly acquired knowledge. Through several tactical scenarios, they were placed in situations to test their reflexes, coordination, and ability to apply taught techniques. However, beyond exercises and demonstrations, the stakes extended beyond mere skills transfer. These two French detachments also created spaces for exchange between French and Malagasy military personnel. Joint training allowed for comparison of methods, sharing of experiences, and strengthening of ties between the two armies.
