A 22-year-old man died and his passenger was injured in a traffic accident that occurred on Tuesday, August 25, around 5 p.m., on RN2 at Ampanataovana, in the fokontany of Ambatofotsy, Ambohimalaza commune, Antananarivo Avaradrano district. The tragedy happened as the two occupants were traveling on a Kymco G5 scooter coming from Imerikasinina. As they approached a curve, the two-wheeler was reportedly traveling at high speed before veering off course and violently hitting the brick wall of a Capuchin Fathers establishment. From the force of the impact, the driver suffered serious injuries to the head and face. Evacuated to the CHRD in Ambohimangakely, he succumbed to his injuries about ten minutes after admission. His passenger, aged 20, was also injured, particularly on the face and left hip. He received medical care at a health facility. Alerted, the Ambohimalaza gendarmerie brigade, located about four kilometers from the accident site, arrived within eight minutes. Three gendarmes were deployed to secure the area and regulate traffic. An on-site investigation and standard procedures were carried out for approximately one and a half hours. The scooter, with its front severely damaged, was placed under surveillance by gendarmes to prevent any tampering before its return to the family. Road users were also made aware of the need to respect speed limits and traffic rules, particularly when approaching curves.
