What was once considered a distant problem has now become alarmingly close. A man has been arrested for fraudulently posing as a lawyer and scammer, driven by greed for money. His scheme involved illegally releasing people from custody. Tsimirafy Samuel, arrested in Maroantsetra in the Antakotako commune of Ambatosoa district, claimed to be a legal authority capable of freeing detainees, hiring people as civil servants, and producing documents for traders lacking proper credentials. He even attempted to extort money from families in the commune where he operated. Many fell victim to his schemes, losing substantial sums of money and other valuables. The national gendarmerie in Maroantsetra conducted an investigation and confirmed that this fraud was his primary occupation. He has been referred to the prosecutor and judge in Maroantsetra and is awaiting trial.
