Four individuals have been arrested and placed in custody as part of the investigation into the murder of two young women from Manjakaray, Stéphanie and Haingotiana. The Anosy Criminal Brigade is holding three suspects.

The investigation into the deaths of Stéphanie Nohasoavina and Haingotiana Rasamison, two young women found dead last Sunday at Ambohimanga Rova, is progressing according to authorities. Three suspects are in custody at the Anosy Criminal Brigade and another at Ankadilalana gendarmerie. All knew each other, and some maintained friendships with the victims.

Narindra Navalona Rakotoniaina, Prosecutor of the Republic at the Antananarivo District Court, confirmed the arrests but provided no further details. A senior police commissioner questioned about the case confirmed the investigation is advancing. According to him, a press conference should be organized soon by investigators and prosecutors. According to unofficial reports, an initial arrest was made Sunday evening, shortly after the bodies were discovered. Several clues and information were gathered using technological means.

Buried Yesterday

It was through geolocation that Stéphanie's family determined her phone had stopped transmitting at Ambohimanga Rova before being taken by the murderers along with her friend's. Their bags and shoes also disappeared.

The two victims were buried yesterday, Stéphanie in Ambohitrolomahitsy in Manjakandriana district, and Haingotiana in Ambohidrabiby.

These two young women, neighbors in Manjakaray, left their home Friday morning, August 21, to go to the cinema in Ambodivona. That afternoon, Haingotiana did not answer her parents' calls, who wanted to tell her she had passed her baccalaureate exam. Stéphanie's phone was also off. Worried families began searching and obtained the location of the devices at Ambohimanga.

On Sunday, August 23, their bodies were discovered in a ravine at Andranomatsatso. They had multiple stab wounds to the head and neck. One had been sexually assaulted.
