Passengers on the Soarano-Ambohimanambola urban train. The Soarano-Ambohimanambola urban train is stepping up service. The Urban Transport Company (SETU) is strengthening its offer by scheduling a third trip per day, starting June 24. "To better serve you, SETU provides regular schedules between Soarano and Ambohimanambola," the operator announced. The service now runs three round trips daily Monday to Friday, up from two since its launch in December 2025. The first departure from Soarano is at 05:30, followed by another at 13:00, with the last at 17:30. Passengers can board at Ambohimanambola at 06:30, 14:00, and 18:30 for the return to the city center. On Saturdays, schedules are adjusted for outings, markets, and family trips, with departures mid-day. From Soarano to Ambohimanambola, trains depart at 08:30, 11:30, and 16:00. Return trips are at 09:45, 12:45, and 17:15. This service expansion coincides with the opening of Amoron'Akona bus station. During the inauguration of this infrastructure, the Ministry of Transport and Meteorology announced increased train rotations to facilitate passenger transfers to the new bus station. This urban train has a station at Amoron'Akona and passes through seven other stations, including Soarano, Ampefiloha, Anosibe (currently closed), Soanierana, Androndra, Mandroseza, and Ambohimanambola. A transport ticket costs 3,000 ariary.
