Nekena Liantsoa Andriamisaina Rasolonjatovo, 18, is the top-ranked bachelor's graduate in Antananarivo for the 2026 session. From the Accounting and Management stream, she achieved an average of 18/20, according to a publication from the University of Antananarivo this week.

I always studied in Catholic educational institutions. First at Lycée Saint-Antoine de Padoue, then at Lycée Ny Sekolintsika Analamahitsy during my secondary years. I continued my studies at the private Catholic high school (LPC) Masindahy Filipo sy Zaka Tanjombato. Throughout my high school years, I was always top of my class, with averages between 16 and 18 out of 20.

Was there a particular anecdote that marked your school journey?
During the 2025-2026 school year, I was, for the first time, 3rd in the class, whereas I had always been first. This anecdote gave me a wake-up call and motivated me to work even harder and not get distracted further.

Why did you experience this slight setback?
I was distracted by my phone and didn't give my best during the exam. This taught me not to overestimate myself and to give my maximum in everything I undertake to aim for excellence.

You achieved the top mark in the bachelor's exam this year. Did you expect it? How did you achieve this average?
To be honest, yes, I aimed to be a laureate in the G2 bachelor's this year, but I never imagined having the best mark in all of Antananarivo. To achieve this average, I worked very hard and prayed strongly. I focused solely on the bachelor's exam, setting aside my passions like crochet. I showed perseverance and self-discipline.

Concretely, what do you do when you say "work hard"?
It's being completely attentive during teachers' explanations, giving maximum effort throughout the school year, and studying for long hours. Revising, making notes, redoing exercises. Seeking to understand the lessons a bit more by not just relying on what teachers provide. Setting up study groups between students at home and at school.

What is your ambition?
I aim to deepen and increase my knowledge and skills in management and to pursue academic excellence in my higher studies. Now holding a bachelor's degree in management, I wish to continue my studies at a prestigious university, preferably abroad. I aspire to become a chartered accountant in the future.

"Liantsoa Nekena is not particularly gifted, but she assimilates very easily what she is taught. She is an organized, determined, and rigorous person in achieving the objectives she sets at the beginning of the year. She was also inspired by her older sibling, who works tremendously, although she has always enjoyed studying since childhood. She demonstrates great autonomy in her learning. Her ambition is to obtain a scholarship abroad to become a chartered accountant, and she is currently preparing entrance exams for Inscae, UCM, and IST. Furthermore, she is a very dynamic young woman: when she's not studying, she does crochet or reads. She's not the type to idle around. It is precisely this discipline and dedication that make her successful in everything she undertakes."
