A mobile phone theft committed on Sunday, August 23, 2026 around 1:30 p.m. at La Réunion Kely in Ampefiloha led to the swift arrest of three suspects following rapid intervention by the National Police. A man had just been robbed when officers on duty near the railway line were alerted. Without delay, police rushed to the scene. Their quick response allowed them to identify individuals suspected of involvement in the theft. Upon seeing the officers, the suspects immediately fled. A chase ensued and two of them were eventually arrested. Initial investigations with the two detainees enabled police to locate a third individual, believed to be another participant in the theft. Officers returned to the field and arrested him. The stolen phone was found in his possession. After verifying ownership, the device was returned to its owner. The three suspects are currently in custody at Ampefiloha police station. The investigation continues before their presentation to the prosecutor.
