The Diovy i Madagasikara party has responded to the president's meeting with SADC leaders and the resolution issued following the encounter. The declaration calls notably to "do everything possible to hold elections." It notes that the president of the Republic mentioned the possibility of organizing elections in July 2027. For the party, this deadline must not overshadow the fact that the current president was not elected, but carried by the population as part of the popular struggle to lead the refoundation of the Republic.
Institutions
Diovy i Madagasikara recalls having called for the abandonment of the Fourth Republic's Constitution and the dissolution of institutions stemming from it. Yet, nearly ten months after the regime change, the party believes this refoundation has not made significant progress. It questions the creation of new bodies, notably the CESC and CRRM, when the initial demand was for a complete overhaul of the institutional system.
Institutional Framework
The dissolution of the National Assembly is also a demand of the party. In its view, current deputies were elected under the old regime and no longer correspond to the new direction desired by the population. Diovy i Madagasikara thus believes that refoundation must precede elections and calls for a reorganization of the institutional framework before any return to the polls.
